Samamp VAC 40 Series 2 w/Black Tolex

The VAC 40 series 2 has 2 channels that are selected with the included A/B box. The volume channel has volume, treble, bass, and tone controls. The treble control has a pull function to boost upper mids and gain. The tone control is a 3 position switch with normal in the center position. Up is brighter and down is thicker. This control is great for tailoring the channel for pickup type. The volume channel is loaded with a 12AX7 but one can substitute a 12AY7 for less gain. The gain channel on the series 2 has gain, master, treble, bass, and tone controls. The pull treble boosts upper mids and gain. The tone switch functions as the one in the volume channel but is more subtle. This channel is loaded with 12AX7 and 12AU7 tubes. The 12AU7 can be substituted with a 12AT7 for added gain. There are bright and V.A.C. controls that affect both channels. V.A.C. presets are: 40, 30, 20, 9, and 4 watts. Tubes: 6L6GC push-pull pair, 12AX7 preamp (2), 12AU7 preamp, and 12AT7 driver. The A/B box has 2 switches. The left switch has a green LED to indicate connection to the volume channel. The right switch has a red LED to indicate “straight through” connection to the gain channel (when green LED is off). The yellow LED indicates the “roll back” control is In the circuit. This control, located on the A/B box, acts like the guitar volume control: allowing one to cut back the gain channel passively (when green LED is off).
