Patrick James Eggle Guitars Macon SC in Lemon Burst

The Macon Singlecut is Patrick’s take on a classic and features host of clever touches making this instrument both ergonomically and visually appealing. This Macon Carve Top Singlecut features a heat-aged nitro finish, select 4A Flame Maple top in Lemon Burst with natural scraped binding, a Mahogany bod and neck, an Ebony fretboard with trapezoid frame inlays, Jescar frets and Mojo PAF ’59 Greeny humbuckers with coil taps. Comes with hardshell case and COA.

This Macon is finished in Aged Nitrocellulose giving the finish a lovely historic looking patina and check marks. Small elements of the plastic hardware has been further hand aged to compliment the overall appearance of the guitar, and indeed the aged nickel hardware.

Fitted with Mojo 59 Greeny out of phase pickups and a special wiring harness, the tones are truly exceptional and incredibly versatile. These incredible pickups have some unique specifications. Here is what Marc at Mojo says about them;
Back by popular demand, these are my take on the infamous 59 PAF’s, made with cloned vintage-spec parts.
These are the Peter Green version so they are out of phase in the middle position.
USA made butyrate bobbins.
Machine wound with USA made Elektrisola 42awg Plain Enamel wire bridge and heavy formvar neck, correct turns per layer as the vintage pickups.
Cloned roughcast alnico 5 magnets, formulated from vintage magnets.
Covers are nickel silver, copperless plating and correct dimpled pole screw holes.
Baseplates are nickel silver.
Correct alloy poles and slugs.
Maple spacer.

Here are the tonal options as wired by Patrick James Eggle and specs;

  • Bridge and Neck Volume – CTS 500K Pots
  • Bridge and Neck Tone – CTS 500K Push Pull Pots
  • Bridge Tone Capacitor – 0.015 NOS Russian Paper in Oil
  • Neck Tone Capacitor – 0.022 Hosco Paper in Oil

Both of the tone circuits incorporate extra components in the style of the “grease bucket” tone modification, allowing much a smoother roll off of high frequencies whilst not becoming too bass heavy.

Push/Pull Neck Tone; Pulling up will split the neck pickup, passing through a resistance selected partial coil split resistor to retain a usable sound more akin to a P90. Combined with the bridge pickup, this is one of our favorite combinations.

Push/Pull Bridge Tone; Pulling up will activate the “blower” switch sending the bridge pickup direct to output bypassing all other controls and pickups. A super quick way of getting an incredible lead tone without adjusting your controls.
