Preowned Hammett Instruments H471 Astro Strat in Sunburst

This preowned H471 Astro Strat is a flat top, semihollow guitar with an identical body profile to the original Harmony Stratotone, but with a thicker 1 3/4″ body. Other features include: Maple top and back, bent Maple rims, double bound body binding, hand carved Honduran Mahogany neckIndian Rosewood fretboard, cream neck binding, Mother-of-Pearl block inlays, floating tuneomatic bridge, and a trapeze tailpiece. The delicate yet powerful pick-up is a faithful recreations of Teisco “Gold Foil” pickup – hand produced by Mojo pickups out of the UK.

The ultra-thin Vintage Amber Nitro-Cellulose sunburst allow the timbers to ring out and the wood grain to delicately show through the top, the combination of which gives a light relic-look without strangling the tone of the materials used in its construction.

Hammett’s recreations preserve the spirit of these iconic instruments being faithfully re-imagined and focused for the modern guitarist – constructed using the highest quality materials, hardware and parts.

The H471 Astro Strat is a guitar whose inspiration and lineage comes from those famous Harmony Stratotone models of the 50’s, favored by the forefathers of the electric blues/blues boogie era – a musical bloodline that was as prevalent back then as it is today. Accented delicately by the eccentricities of the Kay Pro guitar range this was the first model I designed in the Hammett Guitar Co. range and one I’m incredibly pleased to offer.

The full hollow-body construction allows for a plethora of microphonics to sculpt the single Mojo Pickups goldfoil pickup tone and the result is a guitar that will wrench you back to an electrified guitar era of old.. however this instrument should not be confined to blues style guitarist alone. The “tight” trapeze plus floating bridge arrangement will perfectly suit for delicate jazz players too.
