Preowned Michael Spalt G1304 “Vienna Goldtop”
The body shape is based on a template Michael Spalt’s friend/luthier Andreas Neubauer of Vienna salvaged from an old local luthier’s shop, ca. 1870’s. The one-piece body is hollow except for a block under the bridge, with an inset top finished with layers of gold and silver leaf applications and sealed with a resin coat. The graceful curves and the handrubbed finish are reminiscent of the well-worn Viennese coffe house chairs. Direct and dynamic with a nice touch of transparency in the tone. The neck is tightly fastened with a 3-bolt machine screw system, ensuring stability and good sustain. This series of Spalt guitars are called the “Vienna style”.
